MEET JAKE

About Me

I’m Jake Seastrand, and as a longtime resident of Salt Lake City, I’m running for City Council to be a strong advocate for my neighbors in District 3.  My professional experience as a Judicial Assistant at the Salt Lake County Justice Court has given me a deep and compassionate understanding of the challenges our community faces.  I've seen firsthand how public policy can impact families and individuals, from housing instability to mental health crises, and I’m committed to putting that experience to work for the community.

When I'm not focused on public service, I'm with my husband, my partner for over eight years.  We love our vibrant neighborhood and our two dogs. We're also proud self-proclaimed DIYers who enjoy working on our house and exploring the great outdoors.  My platform is built on several core values: Smart Growth & Affordable Housing, Support for Small Business Owners, Enhancing Green Spaces, and a comprehensive approach to Public Safety, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse.  My goal is to ensure every family in our district has a voice and the opportunity to thrive.  I'm not running to manage the status quo; I'm running to deliver tangible, real-world results that make Salt Lake City a more affordable, safer, and more innovative place for every resident. I ask for your vote to help me build that future.

My work involves monitoring probation cases and witnessing the intersection of homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health. This experience drives my commitment to holistic, preventative Public Safety and Crisis Response rather than just incarceration.

Small Business Owner

Starting and running a local residential/commercial cleaning business with my husband gave me firsthand knowledge of city licensing, permitting hurdles, and the difficulties of scaling a local venture. This is the foundation of my Homegrown Economy Plan.

Long-Time Resident of District 3

Living here means I experience the daily reality of traffic flow, the housing crisis, and the need for better green spaces on our streets. My platform isn't theoretical; it's a response to the challenges outside my front door.
